What is the difference between Variance and Divergence?

Variance as a noun is the act of varying or the state of being variable while Divergence as a noun is the degree to which two or more things diverge.

Variance

Example sentence: I don't believe we're seeing the beginning of a divergence. We have seen a partial divergence on this case.
