What is the difference between Wake and Awaken?

Wake as a verb is (often followed by up) to stop sleeping. while Awaken as a verb is to cause to become awake.

Wake

Awaken

Definition: To cause to become awake.To cause to become conscious.To stop sleeping.

Example sentence: Individual potential of life is cosmic potential. Individual is divine deep inside. Transcendental experience awakens that divinity in man. And when you kill a man you deprive him of that birthright of it.
