What is the difference between Picture and Icon?

Picture as a noun is a representation of anything (as a person, a landscape, a building) upon canvas, paper, or other surface, by drawing, painting, printing, photography, etc. while Icon as a noun is an image, symbol, picture, or other representation usually as an obect of religious devotion.
