What is the difference between Diffusion and Dissemination?

Diffusion as a noun is the act of diffusing or dispersing something, or the property of being diffused or dispersed; dispersion while Dissemination as a noun is the act of disseminating, or the state of being disseminated; diffusion for propagation and permanence; a scattering or spreading abroad, as of ideas, beliefs, etc.

Example sentence: When somebody discovers something like the quadratic formula or the Pythagorean theorem, the convention in science is that he can't control that idea. He has to give it away. He publishes it. What's rewarded in science is dissemination of ideas.
