What is the difference between Civilized and Humane?

Civilized as an adjective is having a highly developed society or culture. while Humane as an adjective is with regard for the health and well-being of another; compassionate.

Civilized

Definition: Having a highly developed society or culture. Showing evidence of moral and intellectual advancement; humane, reasonable, ethical. Marked by refinement in taste and manners.

Example sentence: A civilized society is one which tolerates eccentricity to the point of doubtful sanity.

Humane

Part of speech: adjective

Definition: With regard for the health and well-being of another; compassionate.(notcomp) Of or belonging to the species Homo sapiens or its closest relatives.

Example sentence: I particularly admire are Mark Twain and Jerome K. Jerome who wrote in a certain tone of voice which was humane and understanding of humanity, but always ready to annotate its little foibles. I think I'd lay my cards down on that, and say that it's that that I'm trying to do.
