A message from the addressee informing the originator that the originator's communication has been received and understood, as a wedding invitation's acknowledgement. A response sent by a receiver to indicate successful receipt of a transmission. The act of a man admitting a child as his own. A formal statement or document recognizing the fulfilment or execution of a legal requirement or procedure.
Example sentence: If I audition for a job that I don't get, to be honest with you, I'd rather my friend get it. I think there also has to be an acknowledgement of the fact that, as an actor, being in employment is not the norm.
